Stephen Paddock killed 58 people and left hundreds injured in Las Vegas after raining bullets on a crowd at an open-air country music concert while perched in a 32nd floor hotel room.

So far, examinations of Paddock's politics, finances, any possible radicalization and his social behavior - typical investigative avenues that have helped uncover the motive in past shootings - have turned up little. Authorities then verified that these pictures were real, CNN reported.

Newton added that forcing entry into the room with an explosive before finding Paddock's body and an arsenal of weapons was like something "out of a movie".

The Islamic terrorist group declared that Paddock was "a soldier of the Islamic State" through their Amaq news agency Monday and, on Thursday, doubled down on that claim in their newsletter.

Investigators believe Paddock hired a prostitute in the days leading up to the shooting and were interviewing other call girls for information, a U.S. official briefed by federal law enforcement officials said.

Crime scene photos inside Paddock's room were leaked to the media, showing an array of high-powered rifles littering the ground and mounds of bullet casings. "Most importantly, over this 10 year period, passersby who saw our digital billboards have called in tips that led to the apprehension of over 50 wanted fugitives".

The full "60 Minutes" interview with the four police officers will broadcast Sunday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. on CBS.

Police said they've looked at everything from family to political to social to economic status.

The source said investigators recovered a notepad with numbers in it "significant to the gunman" and were attempting to determine their meaning.

The Las Vegas shooter's motive remains unknown, but his recent travel history may provide investigators with some clues as they piece together a profile of the killer.

Paddock bought 1,000 rounds of the.308-caliber and.223-caliber tracer ammunition from a private buyer he met at a Phoenix gun show, a law enforcement official not authorized to comment on the investigation said on condition of anonymity. New reports revealed that investigators were also looking into the possibility that another person had entered Paddock's hotel suite.

The Clinton County Recorder's office confirmed a birth certificate was on file for Stephen Craig Paddock born on April 9, 1953, at the former Jane Lamb Hospital.

Still no clear motive for Las Vegas attack, officials say
But they want to know if he spoke to anyone, if anyone knows anything about what led up to all of this. How is the city coping with the aftermath of all this?

McMahill said investigators had reviewed voluminous video from the casino and don't think Paddock had an accomplice in the shooting, but they want to know if anyone knew about his plot beforehand.

But authorities said the continued lack of an apparent motive has prompted them to turn to the public for help.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said he saw evidence that Paddock had planned to escape after the attack, but declined to elaborate.

He was never on anyone's radar.

McMahill also shot down several prevalent rumors that have circulated throughout media reports, telling reporters that they are confident no second shooter was in the room with Paddock during the attack.
